I don't give 5 star reviews much. So listen up. This place is a gem. Featured on food network for their ribs. Always get the hot sauce with them to really amplify the taste. I have been searching for good ribs forever. I moved to Chicago suburbs and haven't found a place comparable. It is not a fancy restaurant and not located in the best neighbor hood but it is certainly the best ribs place I've ever been to. Their service is sub par. You will quickly realize that upon sitting down. However when the ribs are brought out and in front of you, you forget about anything else. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about this place. Pro-Tip: for a dinner for 2. order a full slab of ribs. It is 31 bucks and comes with a side (homemade mac n cheese or fries are the best choices IMO)and a pitcher of soda.

Just had the most disappointing ribs ever... From a 'Rib Haven' none the less... Cold, dry microwaved ribs... The only highlight was the sauce. Ive always been told that this place has the best ribs in town and that was certainly not the case. That fact that it was $31 for ribs that the cashier confirmed were smoked earlier in the day and then microwaved to warm them up is laughable. They are more or less selling reheated left overs for full price. I feel 1 star is kind of generous for what it was... I've had McRibs that were better than the ribs I had from Jim's Rib Haven.

Great local place with simple, but delicious food. We split a pulled pork sandwich & 4-rib plate lunch. Good way to sample the menu.

Jims ribs are by some of the best ribs i have ever had. The amazing thing is that the chicken is even better. The staff were extremely friendly and the prices were reasonable. We all ended up full and happy. I literally cant wait to go back.

I still think my dad makes the best ribs, but if I can't have those, then this is the place to go! We had some family over and decided to get some ribs to go. We ordered the rib tips, spare ribs, beef ribs, and pork ribs. Everything was AMAZING - the rib tips are by far my favorite. Everything has that great hickory smoke flavor, and has just the right amount of spicy yet sweet sauce. What you can order is pretty cut and dry - you can get ribs, a few side dishes, and peach cobbler. Done. They have a few things and they do it well. It's a hole-in-the-wall gem of the QC area. They are closed Mondays, so don't try to order then. They also have catering!

Good food with plentiful portions. Not your trendy BBQ joint - just 2 sauces. Very basic establishment - nothing fancy, but reasonably clean (except for the washrooms) My reason for 3-stars is the prices - a full slab with fries and a drink is well over $25. A simple turkey sandwich with fries and a drink tops $12 Just a little too pricey for the location and establishment.

Be aware of when you pay upfront, I was over charged $15 for a sandwich & fries! & every time I go to eat there, they are always out of something! Last time I went they were out of chicken and green beans. I haven't always had the best service when I'm there either! Everyone, just be aware of your total!! They will scam you!!!!

Didn't live up to the hype. I had the back ribs 1/2 slab and my friend got the rib tips. Ribs were pretty tough and rib tips didn't taste like quality meat while being overly fatty. The sauce is a plus but if you want good quality meat, this won't be the best choice.

There is not better rib in the USA than Jim's. I came from Atlanta just for the ribs (not really, needed Harris pizza also!) I have been all over the US trying to find ribs that would be a close 2nd. Nothing is even close to these - they are the masters of swine!

  • Kelly J.

The sides and sauce is this places best product. The ribs have been dry and over microwaved. The chicken tastes like leftovers. But, the Mac and cheese and beans are awesome.

Jim's Rib Heaven definitely lives up to the hype. I didn't think IL had BBQ, but low and behold this place seems to be a staple. We came here for lunch one day and got the 4 Rib platter with one side and a drink. The waitress was very helpful in steering us the right way. I really love going to the mom and pop places that care about their customers. They have two types of sauce (hot or regular) that they will put on the ribs before they come out. We ordered and got our food less than 15 minutes later. While not the fall off the bone ribs I was expecting. They were quite meaty and tender. The other thing to note is that they are not cooked in the sauce. it is just pt on before getting to your table. My side was the mac and cheese, while good, it was kind of small. It is definitely worth a trip if you are craving BBQ and can't make it all the way to Kansas City. #Yelp100

Let me list all the reasons you must visit this place. They serve wonder bread with spray butter on it. It's BYOB. The servers are sassy. Eat enough of the ribs and you will learn how quickly you can find the closer bathroom. I've also bought a few bootlegged DVDs from here.

  • Ken M.

I gave this place a second chance, and got the baby back ribs. The ribs were good, but not tender. I had to fight to get them off the bone! Trust me, I don't fight with ribs! If they don't fall of the bone, then that's just too much work for me. The sauce on them was good, I got the hot sauce. Pluses were the warm towel they give you for your hands afterward, and the taste of the ribs. If you are like me and expect the meat to fall of the bone, then don't come here.

  • Jeff A.

By far the best ribs I have ever had. Worst part about Jim's is everything sounds, smells, and looks good but it would take a lot for me to NOT get a boney box. Great stuff!

  • Drew L.

I'm from jersey so not the best experience with BBQ but this place has great ribs and a friendly staff. It's no Memphis but def the best you are going to get in town. The hot sauce is what did it for me. We were told they have been around since the 60s so mr Jim has had years to really fine tune his delicious concoction.

They say all good things must come to an end. And, so it seems to have gone, with Jim's Rib Haven. Once a powerhouse of deliciously slathered pork heaven, few remnants remain of the smoke that use to pour from Jim's chimney. The sauce is runny now. The ribs are nowhere near as full bodied and meaty. Service has even slipped below par. Sadly, I can no longer call this place the home of the best ribs in all of the land. Sob. Sob.

  • Justin H.

Ok I used to be really turned off by Jim's. It was all hype. A lot of talk for average ribs. Something happened. The last time I went in, the ribs were very very good. I haven't had a chance to confirm this improvement though.

Visiting from out of town and went there based on the Yelp star rating. How a restaurant that is known for microwaving their food gets 4.5 stars I don't know. My experience as measured by the quality of food AND service was disappointing. Ordered the Baby Back dinner and a glass of water. When dinner came out I still didn't have my water. I asked the waitress for the water and right after me, the table next to me asked for a refill on his soda. She went back, got his soda, carried it in one hand, gave it to him then went to check on another table. She could have grabbed my water while getting the soda and used her other hand (I didn't see a tray used once). Similar story when I asked for an extra plate to hold the bones. In a few minutes she told me, and it DID take a few minutes. The food. Liked the baked beans but the fries were disappointing. Tasted like they were made quite a while before I got there. Then the ribs. Simply put, they were tough! I should be able to eat ribs with a fork and knife if I choose to. Theses were almost too tough to use silverware with. I tried to figure it out because the meat had pulled back from the bone indicating that they had been cooked enough. Reading other reviews in hind sight, the meat was over cooked, dried out then probably microwaved. I'm not a local, and have no allegiance to this place so my experience isn't some after hours nostalgic experience where every and anything tastes good. My advice, if you have been here and like it, more power to you, enjoy. If you have never been here and you are thinking of going based on the high rating here, find yourself a Famous Dave's or Chili's, you will be happier.

I know they are a chain but they just catered a golf outing we attended and they did a great job. All the food was GREAT and they did a fantastic job and they are still at it serving food after the outing and awards are over. Highly recommend for catering. Even the cole slaw is great. The beams and BBQ rock!

  • Connie H.

had an order of ribs to go with fries and coleslaw on the side. i regret taking it to go as our fries ending up being soggy (though we re-toasted them) and i didn't get to taste what their fries were really like. the coleslaw was just okay. didn't think it had that much flavor. the ribs were good, but nothing too significant. the meat was a little tougher than i had hoped for, but the flavor was good. are there choices for sauces? because we didn't get asked that... but the sauce we had was pretty good. i may come back here if i'm in the mood for ribs, but i'd probably see what else the quad cities has to offer for ribs.

Visiting family the other day, and they were cravin some good ole BBQ! Thanks Yelp, for helping us find Jim's Ribs! We went family style, and ordered HALF the menu in the LARGEST portions to share! This is all you need to know : Beef Back Ribs ($24.99). These were PERFECT. Super tender, fall off the bone, with tons of flavor. They have a good BBQ sauce here, and since the meat had lots of smokey flavor, it was a delight! This is really the only thing i will STRONGLY recommend here...with the rest being good to meh. Go with the Beef ribs! Also tried the Whole Chicken ($12.35). Great rub/sauce/flavor on the chicken. It was cooked well, but some of it was dry inside...they should inject here! This would be recommended, esp at the price point. The Pork Back Ribs ($24.99). These were good, but a little tough. Wish they were cooked a little longer...but the flavor was good. I didn't care much for their Pulled Pork either, so maybe stick with the Beef/Chicken IMO. For the sides: French Fries ($7.50 XL). I love fries with the skins left on em...these were yummy! Potato Salad ($7.50 qt). This was good overall Homemade Mac N Cheese ($7.50 qt). This was cheesy and the noodles were cooked right...but I like a few spices in my mac personally! I'd stop in again next time we are in town :) Pics :

Jim's Rib Heaven lives up to its Yelp rating. Came here with a coworkder for lunch one day and got the 4 Rib platter with a side and drink. The waitress, who apparently makes some of the desserts that were for sale by the cash register, was very helpful in explaining the menu and the different types of ribs they had. This place had the small town feel to it, everyone seemingly having a good time while eating some very good food. The ribs were very good and one of them actually did fall off the bone (the other 3, not so much). But they were very tasty! I got the hot sauce on the ribs and it was really good. Not too hot but reminds you that you ordered it that way. KC is by far my favorite BBQ but this was a pretty good replacement! #Yelp100

Good BBQ, I like the amount of sauce they gave me, bonus points to start. They are known for ribs and they are pretty good. Not going to blow you away by any means, but good ribs. Had the turkey sandwich as well, it was very good with a lot of sauce. Wish they had briskett, but a place worth trying if your in town. Has a long standing history in town, worth a shot. It was good bbq, just not the best of the best for me. You may like it a little better than I did.

My favorite rib place bar none. I go there for ribs, coleslaw, beans. The right mix of spicy, sour, and sweet. Always true wood smoke. The interior would be what I would call "hole-in-the-wall". Simple tables very simple decor. The staff is pleasant and will not rush you.

I guess I must not know anything about ribs, because our experience was that these were the worst things we've ever had. Tough and undercooked, and so much sauce I guess they thought they could hide how bad the ribs actually were. The restaurant (East Moline) needs more than TLC.. It' not that it was dirty, but give me a break - it was just plain tacky (water stained ceiling tile, window sills that look like they've stood in water for their entire lives. Give me a break - spend a little money and fix the place up --- you charge enough to cover the costs!!). We had friends that had recommended that we try Jim's - I really wish I hadn't listened, 'cause as far as I was concerned the best thing I ate was the cole slaw. My husband and I each had a 1/2 slab,(supposedly baby back ribs, but I'm thinking maybe they were really old tough pigs) with 2 sides (as did our friends), and it cost each couple over $36.00 (no alcohol) soft drinks only. Let me tell you I've been screwed before for way less!!! This was positively 2 trips in 1!!! First and last!!! I'm really sorry that the quad cities thinks this is the best they can do for BBQ Ribs. My advice - drive an hour east and try JT's Bar and Grill in Cherry, Il., they know how to cook BBQ Baby Back PORK ribs!

Jim's is absolutely fantastic. The food is great, the atmosphere is enjoyable, and the service is friendly. Not too expensive either for the great food you get. Every time I drive by the smell just pulls me it. Too good to miss.

People think I'm nuts when I talk about my strategy for survival in the Midwest: Yeah, there's Kansas City, and yes there's every little place all over the south, and forget about Texas. I've never been to ant of these places, so you lovers of those realms will tell me that I've never had barbecue until I've been to ______ in ___________. But, I think that I have the best barbecue available in the country in medium sized cities throughout the Midwest, including now Rock Island, IL, one of the Quad Cities bridging the Mississippi, across from Davenport, Iowa. Went to Davenport to see the Figge Art Museum (nice new building by David Chipperfield), and just KNEW we would find barbecue. It's saucy 'cue. I went for the back ribs, anticipating that the spare ribs would be too much for lunch. Well, of course, the pigs they raise in Iowa are big beautiful specimens, and this one yielded way too much food, not that I didn't eat every little bit! Lisa ate the Pork (not Pulled Pork) sandwich which rated a "fantastic." Cole slaw okay, baked beans delish. I think that there's no better way to taste the local produce than by going to the small local places that will serve food made with love. That's Jim's Rib haven.

It was great to be back to the Quad Cities. It still feels like home, even though I only lived there a year. While living there, I spent most of my time cooking at home. My favorite barbecue in the QC was my own, although Jim's was a second fav and a staple in the area. It was the first place I ate upon first arriving here over 4 1/2 years ago. One day, while in Texas, I had a flashback of this place, and I remember watching them putting barbecue in the microwave to heat it up. I couldn't figure out why I even found that acceptable at the time, but I definitely think it hindered the quality of the product. Their barbecue is not cheap, either. So, I ordered the back ribs, with their hot sauce. I requested for them not to microwave my ribs. The server informed me they'd be room temperature, and I was fine with that. I wanted to get a taste of the barbecue untainted. For sides, I ordered the fresh cut fries and the cole slaw. The ribs have this good taste to them, but they were very tough. These were definitely smoked too hot, too fast. The temperature of that smoker has gotta be way too high. These ribs have a lot of potential! Tough is a sign that some steps were missed in the smoking process. As for the reheating process, Jim's should invest in a broiler. Plates do withstand the broiler as they would in a micro, but the quality would come out far better. If these ribs would've been microwaved, that would've made them even tougher. Their fresh cut fries have always been delicious, as they were this time. The cole slaw needs a little less drowning in vinegar and mayonnaise. Overall, they got an extra star for the great service! Barb waited on us and made sure we were taken care of. I will be back because I hope to gain a better opinion of this place. Oh, and one of the yelpers mentioned taking your food with, and going to fill up a growler across the street. FYI, you can do the opposite, because Jim's is a BYOB establishment.

We were in Moline for An ASA National Softball Tournament, and before heading there. Yelped restaurants for some local flavor. We took a group of 30 there, took over the place, and had an awesome time. This place was recommended by all the locals, and they didn't disappoint. Trying to figure out how to get some ribs in California. Firecrackers 99 Quarles. Thank you.

I've been hearing people rave about this place for years, so I'll admit I took my wife here with high expectations. With terrible service, horrible atmosphere, and sub-par food, I was disappointed on every level. Walking in my first thought was that I've never seen a worse interior, not even in a fast food restaurant. Menus consisted of a laminated piece of paper with so few choices the same thing is printed on the front and back. Our waitress seemed quite dismayed that someone had actually come in to eat. I ordered the 'Beef Dinner' and was given a small bowl of reheated canned green beans (sold separately for $3) and was eventually brought a soggy mess that might have been roast beef at some point. Very bland, it had not been smoked or seasoned at all as far as i could tell. My wife ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs and was given 7 for $15. A fork was required to remove the dry, overcooked meat from the bone and she gave up after the first 2. While we waited at the counter to pay for our meal, I noticed a large bin sitting on the counter containing around 50 assorted, pre-cooked ribs untouched by barbecue sauce. I do not know how long ago they were cooked or how many times they had been reheated before they were served to us. All in all, I can only assume this is an establishment that had quality food at one point but now relies on the accomplishments of the past to stay in business while the operators have grown lazy and greedy. Very sad, this is no haven for ribs.

I always drive through Rock Island and smell the wonderful smells coming from Jim's Ribs and I decided that I needed to go in and try them out. I ordered the four rib meal. I ended up getting five ribs, an extra cup of Jim's famous hot sauce, four slices of buttered bread, and a side of french fries all for $11. The ribs were spectacular. They had been rubbed with mixed spices and then slow roasted for hours. Once they were pulled from the cookers they are slathered with either mild or hot sauce. (I ordered hot and in my book, it could have been hotter.) The meat was falling off of the ribs. The service was great too. Jim is in back cooking and will come out occasionally to say 'Hi' to his customers. The rest of the staff is related to him in some way from grandma to granddaughter. I can't wait to go back and try one of the sandwiches.

As far as I'm concerned these could be some of the best ribs ever, granted different regions do it different and you can be partial to that but these guy are on my list of places to take guest when they come to visit.

I would never eat barbecue at this place again or anything for that fact! The ribs Are obviously not seasoned and have absolutely no flavor and im not kidding! the sauce isn't even that good either more like tomato sauce with brown sugar and catchup for sauce. The ribs were fall off the bone and did have a nice smoke flavor but that was the only flavor! the ribs could have been sooooo soooo good if they would just put damn salt and spices on it while they cooked but no they just put that sorry a** sauce on top like that's gonna do the trick smdh lol! The macaroni was not good either the taste and texture was like some dollar store brand. The fries would have been good also but guess why they weren't... Yep you guessed it, it had no salt or flavor either! The place was packed (but don't let it fool you) with mostly middle age and older patrons and there was not one black person in there I guess they know what the deal is with this place haha! Then I saw a guest had ordered a BBQ Turkey sandwich.... Do u think it was maybe pulled turkey meat....you guessed it NO! Sliced turkey meat that you can buy at the store with that sorry a** BBQ sauce on top! Now what serious respectable BBQ joint would serve that as a BBQ turkey sandwich! Man this place is a joke! If u want ribs or BBQ just make it yourself believe me you'll be doing yourself a great flavor.. I mean favor!

Jim's is a very friendly place. Yes, the outside is not much to look at, but the place is clean and the food is good. My mom and I split an order of ribs and sides. We really enjoyed the generous portion of ribs with lots of meat on them. The meat was a little dry, but still it was tender and the mild sauce was good (though we could have had more of it). The slaw and potato salad were ok, but the beans were outstanding! We both had a couple of really good root beers. Total bill for the two of us came to $26.

I sing in a barbershop quartet (yes, I really do...), and nearly every summer we drive from Michigan to St. Joseph, Missouri, to attend a week-long coaching/performing/learning "Harmony College". And every year, we make our travel plans to ensure we arrive in Rock Island at dinner time so we can revel in the sauce-covered joy that is Jim's Rib Haven. We've been going for years, and all I've ever had is the Back Ribs -- I'm sure everything else is just as good, but mmmmm....those ribs. Great sauce, and the meat is incredibly tender. Now, I can pack away a lot of ribs so I normally order a full rack...but our first time there, the waitress waved me off and suggested I get the half rack, and she'd bring me more if I decided I really wanted the full. OMG, she was right...Jim's half rack is the size of everybody else's full rack. Go!

Oh, such good ribs. So good. Yes, it looks like a hole in the wall, it's in a not-great part of town, but the ribs. Oh, the ribs. So delicious. And the sauce. Holy crap. So freaking good. The restaurant is so "down home" that they give you slices of bread with margarine with your ribs. My only problem? They're ridiculously over-priced. If memory serves, a rack of ribs will cost you around $25. Just a soda is over $3, and they won't give you refills. A sandwich is 6ish dollars, which is reasonable, but it's Jim's Ribs! You want the ribs! See the menu under one of the pictures for more details. Also, the other picture is illuminating of how tasty their food is. yum yum. I love Jim's ribs, but I hate shelling out the money like I'm at a fancy restaurant.

I'm originally from the Quad Cities...and Jim's is always on the "must visit" list whenever I am in town or passing through. Best BBQ place I've ever been to? Nope, but it never disappoints. The ribs are consistently good, prices are decent, and the service is always friendly. The place is a dive, but not filthy. Call it nostalgia, but I think this is part of the character of this place. At a restaurant with "rib haven" in the name, stick with the ribs. I've found everything else, especially the sides, are mediocre at best. And get the pork back ribs...not the baby back ribs. They will be very meaty and dripping wet with EXCELLENT sauce. Also, they are not "fall off the bone" tender. You'll need to work a little, but the flavor is excellent and the portions are huge. BBQ purists be warned...I am pretty sure the ribs are smoked off-site and re-heated in the restaurant. This undoubtedly affects quality, but they're still great! The place can get pretty full, but management does everything they can to accommodate large groups. For this reason, I've found this is the perfect place to kick off a bachelor party or night out with the guys. Bonus: the place is BYOB and they won't bat an eye if you bring a cooler in and plop it down next to your table. Apologies to the families we may have offended ;) So, come to Jim's RIB HAVEN and get RIBS. You'll be back...

sometimes a very very long wait for ribs. no one there seems to know which ribs are the meatiest and most tender. ribs are sitting out in the open uncovered in big piles already cooked in big aluminum tins waiting to be used for customers. the sauce is good but if you order sauce they do not serve it in bottled quantities, rather send it home in a styrofoam cup with a plastic lid. try not spilling that on your way home with tough ribs that you just waited over a half hour to get and take home to find they really are not edible. also called another location and was told by the east moline location that their location had much better quality. unfortunately they were also much further away for me to drive and find out. if i attempt to order this name brand of ribs ever again, i will make the drive to try the other location.

  • Garren K.

I have had very good ribs at Jim's in the past. This visit however was par at best. The flavor was solid, but I felt the ribs were excessively dry. Even for a smoked variety. $27 for a decent rack seemed high for the quality level as well. The facade is a shit box, but I can easily work with that for a good meal, this was acceptable, not great. I will not speculate as to why the quality dropped, but for me... it did. I would still rather support a local joint like this over a chain (like dave's) but the local joint still needs to bring an A effort, or they will fall by the wayside.

Bony Box, Bony Box, Bony Box... Best deal in ribs and the best eating. You get the ends so they are cooked a bit more on the outside. Crunchy on the outside and tasty on the inside. The hot sauce is really hot so be warned. I've had ribs in KC and Memphis and this is still my favorite.

Extremely good ribs. Not so good as the ones I used to have at Tony Roma's but damned good. Don't buy the sucky Tony Roma ones that are packaged in plastic at the grocery store, by the way. The sauce sucks bigtime. Jim's is about so good as you will get in the QCA--and it is pretty darn good.

The moment I walked through the door, I knew I was in the right place for great ribs! The aroma, the atmosphere, the cashier who eagerly answered the few questions my travelling companion and I had--all led up to the fabulous plate of ribs served to me shortly after my order was placed. Can I say it felt like I had gone to heaven? After almost 14 years in the great white north, hundreds of miles from the Southland I had grown up in and far, far away from any good BBQ, I suddenly forgot all about the bone-chilling cold outside. The ribs were the best I have had in too many years. I ordered the 7-rib dinner with the mild sauce and got a couple of extra ribs as a bonus. I chose green beans and mac 'n cheese for my sides. When the waitress set the plate of white bread in front of us, I was reminded that here was the accompaniment that rounded out the experience. If you're in the area, you HAVE to give Jim's a try. You won't be disappointed.

I had to remove my old 4 star post and drop it down to two. Jim's is a better choice than going to a chain restaurant still, but ever since the 2010 fire, prices have been higher and service has been worse. Is Jim trying to recoup the costs from losing the smoker? Does he just not care anymore? Does the waitress not get paid enough? I don't know what the problem is, but I've had 2 consecutive disappointing experiences in the past year. If you like the flavor, go in and buy a jug of bbq sauce from them, take it home and make your own ribs. The service from Jim's will be awful when you're trying to buy it, but at least you won't waste an hour in there. Here's hoping Jim reads this and gives his staff a kick in the butt to get things back to the way they used to be...but for now, this is not worth your time.

If I could put 10 stars I would. This by far my favorite place to eat in the world. The boney box is where its at (spicy ). Another good deal is you can pick up your boney box then drive across the street to the drive up Bent river Growler filling station and get a badass pale ale.... heaven f'n heaven.

Great sauce. A tip for the "frugal" spender..Buy the Boney Boxes rather than the full slabs. Much cheaper, same stuff, the ribs just aren't as "pretty".

  • Lyndsay L.

I was always one who didn't like ribs until I had Jim's bony box. Now it is at the top of my "Last Meal" list. Chewy and smoky and the sauce....oh that sauce...it makes you feel all good inside. It is easily one of the best things I have ever eaten. When you dine in, you get a hot wet white washcloth to clean up with...how awesome. True, the place looks a little shabby. True, it appears to be in a questionable area (but it really isn't). True, they use recycled Dawn bottles to squirt the sauce on. True, we may or may not have gotten food poisoning once that caused somone in our party to shart his pants. But all these things will NOT prevent us from returning!!! We are diehard Jim's fans for life!!!

Love the ribs at Jims. Properly smoked and tasty. Haven't tried anything else, but plan on going back to Jims as much as possible.

If you live within 500 miles of this place, or ever find yourself in the Quad Cities, this place is a must to visit. You can see them preparing the food in the kitchen, just slathering the meat with coat upon coat of the most delicious barbecue sauce there is. The meat is all so tender you don't need a knife.

I wish I could give Jim's Rib Haven ten stars! They have the best ribs in my opinion. They also have an East Moline, IL location. I have purchased large amounts - 1 dozen slabs - for family functions. Their baked beans, green beans and potato salad are fantastic. Great eat in and carry out, either way. Their sauce is my favorite. Get it hot! Family owned. 5/28/10: I have never swayed from ordering ribs. I recently ordered their chicken dinner. If their ribs are great, their chicken can't suck, right? I was not disappointed. It was perfectly cooked with their splendid BBQ sauce accompanied by baked beans, green beans and two slices of buttered white bread. By the way, you get 1/2 of a chicken. Is this heaven?

Jim's serves up delicious, hearty barbecue dishes like sandwich platters and saucy rib platters. I was very happy with the ribs I ate here. They were falling-off-the-bone tender, had a good smoky flavor, and came with a flavorful sauce.

I grew up eating Jim's and always remembered it being really, really good. I moved away from the area and started finding my own likes/dislikes in food. After trying ribs from most of the 'BBQ towns' I longed for a return trip to Rock Island. The ribs at Jim's were everything I remembered and more. The sauce. The texture. The white bread. Not the best BBQ I've ever experienced but in the top 3.
